Courtesy at Intersections: Protecting Safety for All
Hello everyone,
A significant proportion of traffic accidents occur at intersections, often caused by vehicles failing to yield to pedestrians. Drivers are reminded to slow down, stop for pedestrians, and respect pedestrian right-of-way. To promote awareness of intersection right-of-way and ensure public safety, car and motorcycle drivers should remember these three rules:
-
Slow Down: Reduce your speed when approaching an intersection.
-
Look Around: Turn your head to check for vehicles coming from the left, right, or behind.
-
Stop: Stop momentarily to allow pedestrians to cross first.
Pedestrians and cyclists should also exercise caution when passing through intersections. Obey traffic signals, signs, and road markings. If the countdown timer for the pedestrian green light is insufficient, wait for the next green light before crossing. By following laws and showing mutual respect, drivers and pedestrians can ensure a safer experience for all road users.
