✨The Five Major Ethnic Group Student Associations + Millet, Bamboo, and Mother Tongue Organizations
These student self-governance organizations at NDHU were established to help students explore and embody the deeper spiritual and traditional cultural values of Indigenous peoples. Membership in each association is open to all, regardless of ethnicity. As long as you are interested in and appreciate the languages, cultures, and songs of the various groups, you are welcome to join! We warmly invite you to become a part of our ethnic group student associations!✨
NDHU is not only the national university with the highest number of Indigenous students in Taiwan but also home to nine student organizations, including five ethnic group student associations (Amis Pangcah Association,Ptasan Association,Pinuyumayan Association, Kanakanavu、Hla'alua、Cou、Bunun Association, and Maqacuvucuvung Association) and four cross-ethnic cultural organizations (Maduh Association,sapah ptasan Association, Sapah kari Association, and Rikec Association). The main members and focus of cultural learning for each group are as follows:
- 1. Amis Pangcah Association: Primarily focused on the Amis, Sakizaya, and Kavalan peoples and their cultural heritage.
- 2. Ptasan Association: Focused on the Atayal, Truku, Seediq, Saisiyat, and Tao (Yami) peoples and their cultural traditions.
- 3. Pinuyumayan Association: Centered on the Puyuma people and their cultural practices.
- 4. Kanakanavu、Hla'alua、Cou、Bunun Association: Focused on the Kanakanavu, Saaroa, Tsou, Thao, and Bunun peoples and their cultural heritage.
- 5. Maqacuvucuvung Association: Primarily for the Paiwan and Rukai peoples, promoting their cultural traditions.
- 6. Maduh Association, Sapah ptasan Association, Sapah kari Association, and Rikec Association: These organizations foster cross-ethnic cultural exchange and learning.
All student organizations are open to participation from anyone, regardless of ethnicity. Students, faculty, and alumni who are interested in the cultures of these groups are welcome to join and learn about the rich traditions of Taiwan’s Indigenous peoples together.
